FAQ
Sessions are available in person at my Livingston office or virtually – so therapy can fit into your life, not the other way around.
Couples sessions are 60 minutes, and individual sessions are 45 minutes.
Call (917) 328-5926 or email me to begin the process. We’ll start with a brief phone consultation to understand what you’re looking for and see if working together feels like a good fit. From there, we can schedule the first session.
I work with teens and above.
Yes, yes, yes! I absolutely love what I do and recognize that every person – and every relationship – sometimes needs a little extra support.
I see therapy as a collaborative partnership with three parts to the process.
The Deep Dive (Beginning): We start by identifying parts of yourself and relationships causing you distress, the dysfunctional cycles and “stuck” points that make life feel overwhelming. This stage is about understanding and defining what needs to change and setting the roadmap to get there.
The Active Repair (Middle): Real change happens when we lean into the discomfort. In this stage, I act as your collaborative partner – providing a warm, safe container for vulnerability while maintaining the honesty and accountability needed for growth. We move beyond “just talking” into active repair and resetting.
The Long View (End): Growth is a celebration, and the end of our process is about honoring the “heavy lifting” you’ve done. We don’t just stop when things feel better; we ensure you leave with a concrete toolkit to sustain long-term change.
I earned my Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Ohio State University. I later served as a faculty member in the master’s program in Couples and Family Therapy at the University of Oregon.
Over the past 25 years, I’ve been fortunate to work in diverse settings, including VA clinics, crisis intervention centers, and university mental health clinics. I specialize in evidence-based couples’ modalities, including Imago Relationship Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in New Jersey and New York.
I’m available on weekdays and offer late evening appointments to work around your schedule.
While I’m not in network with insurance companies, I provide regular superbills that clients can submit to their insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
I am not a participating provider with insurance carriers due to low reimbursement rates for specialized therapy services.
Working outside insurance networks allows me to protect your privacy and focus on the care that best supports your needs.
To avoid a cancellation fee, please cancel at least 24 hours before your scheduled session.
Cancellations made later than that will be billed 50% of the session fee.
There is a free parking lot at the Livingston office.
Therapy here is an active process in which we work together to ensure each session builds on the last.
To maintain this continuity and keep your progress moving forward, I often provide assignments or reflections for you to explore between our meetings.
Throughout the therapeutic process, I promise to provide the honesty you need to see what must change and the safety you need to face it.
While the range varies, most individuals and couples typically average around 12–15 sessions.
I certainly do! That would be Yogi, my 10-year-old Labradoodle.
While I handle the clinical work, Yogi serves as the official Chief Barking Officer. He’s a seasoned pro at holding space (and napping) during sessions.
He’s also a great reminder for all of us to stay present, lead with kindness, and never underestimate the power of a good stretch.
When I’m off the clock, I’m big on staying active and staying connected. You’ll usually find me doing a HIIT workout or on the tennis courts for some friendly competition.
I’m also a huge foodie and love exploring new cuisines or trying out new recipes. When it’s time to slow down, I enjoy getting lost in a book.
Most importantly, I love hanging out with friends – it’s how I recharge my own battery so I can show up fully for our sessions.
I’m a firm believer in the healing power of snacks. My ‘guilty’ pleasures are definitely a tub of ice cream or a bar of dark chocolate.
Sometimes Yogi (the Chief Barking Officer) tries to negotiate for a bite, but he knows the chocolate is strictly for the therapist!

The distance, the pressure, the constant second-guessing – it doesn't have to be something you just learn to live with.
