About

You’ve already taken the hardest step.

Pausing long enough to recognize, “I need help,” takes courage. And you just did that.

Take a breath. You don’t have to carry this alone anymore.

Taking the next step

Now it’s about finding someone who can partner with you as you move toward the relationships and the life you want. This is where I come in.

You might be wondering: Who am I? And if we decide to work together, what will this process actually look like?

I see therapy as a kind of normal curve – your dependence on the process on one axis, the depth of the work on the other. In the beginning, your reliance increases by design.

Therapy is active and collaborative.

We do meaningful work together. We process deeply. I may offer structured reflections or exercises between sessions, and we will build on that each time you return.

This is not passive conversation – it’s intentional change.

Therapy becomes a safe space where I help hold your emotions while gently challenging you to stretch beyond what feels comfortable.

We begin to understand the parts of yourself and your relationship that create distress. We identify patterns, develop practical strategies, and redefine what truly matters.

Change happens gradually – and purposefully.

Over time, something shifts.

As you gain clarity, confidence, and tools, your dependence on the therapeutic process naturally decreases.

You begin to say, “I’ve got this.” You tolerate uncertainty with greater steadiness. You navigate conflict with more skill. You respond rather than react.

That’s when the curve changes direction.

Our work together feels complete – not because you or your relationship is perfect, but because it is more secure.

Growth and clarity

Dr. Rohini Vira

Rohini Vira, PhD, LMFT, EFT

I’m deeply passionate about this work.

It will be an honor to walk alongside you.

Based on more than ten years of psychology and family therapy education, I developed the 3R Framework: Reflect, Repair, and Rebuild. This approach is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Imago Relationship Therapy, Family Systems, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). It provides a balanced, thoughtful lens not to just build trust, insight, and deepen intimacy; but also to create practical and lasting change.

I’m not asking anything of you that I haven’t asked of myself.

At 51, nearing empty-nest stage, I had no choice but to redefine myself and my relationships. It has been humbling, challenging, but ultimately clarifying and rewarding. Having done the work myself and having 25+ years clinical expertise, I believe that I offer a unique perspective that can help my clients do the harder and more meaningful work.

I also lean into my Indian and American roots; years of living across different cultures and in a variety of geographical locations; of growing up as a middle child in a dynamic (but at times dysfunctional) family; and the overwhelming demands of being a wife, working professional, mom of two teenage boys, and a dog, to understand that we all try our best but some days it just doesn’t work. I am acutely aware of how identity, family history, and life transitions quietly shape the way we connect – and disconnect – from the people and parts of ourselves that matter most.

Therapy is hard but if you come in prepared to work, reflect and collaborate with me, I am confident of meaningful progress. Let me be your guide and coach just as I have been for many before you. I invite you to read testimonies from my clients.

Let’s Talk

Education and Experience

I earned my Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from The Ohio State University, where I taught in the undergraduate programs and provided individual, couples, and family therapy through the university’s Couples and Family Therapy Clinic.

My pre-doctoral training took me to University of Oregon, where I supervised and taught master’s-level students while providing therapy to couples and families at the Family Therapy Center. The experience strengthened both my clinical skills and my passion for mentoring future therapists.

I later worked as a clinician with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Eugene, Oregon, treating relationship distress, mood disorders, and PTSD among military veterans. Earlier in my career, I provided crisis intervention and psychotherapy at a community mental health agency in Detroit, supporting clients navigating trauma, abuse, addiction, and serious mental health challenges.

Since entering private practice in 2007, I have worked extensively with individuals, couples, and families facing life’s most difficult transitions. Over the past 25 years, I have developed particular expertise in helping couples repair disconnection, rebuild trust, and strengthen emotional bonds using evidence-based approaches, most notably Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Imago Relationship Therapy.

This blend of clinical experience and academic background allows me to bring a rich, highly specialized set of tools to our collaborative work.

When I’m not working…

I’m big on staying active and connected. You’ll usually find me doing a HIIT workout or on the tennis courts for some friendly competition. My 10-year-old Labradoodle Yogi likes to walk – a lot – so he takes me with him.

I’m also a huge foodie and love exploring new cuisines or trying out new recipes. When it’s time to slow down, I enjoy getting lost in a book. Most importantly, I love hanging out with friends – it’s how I recharge my own battery, so I can show up fully for our sessions.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Alan Watts

There’s a way to feel more like yourself again.

The distance, the pressure, the constant second-guessing – it doesn't have to be something you just learn to live with.

Together, we'll slow it all down, make sense of what's been building, and begin to shift the patterns that keep repeating.

Show up as you are. We'll figure out the rest.

Reach out today to schedule a free consultation and take the first step toward something that feels more grounded, more connected, and more like you.
